Our Story

About The New Janky Workshop

I'm Geoff, and I hail from a suburb of Gillette Stadium, MA. I make videos on woodworking, metalworking, leatherworking, laserworking (I'm coining that term!) and other stuff. I am a keyboard monkey by day, and a maker of all of the things by night.

Maybe a little entertaining, with a dash of some learning (maybe). Sometimes (ok, more often than not) a bit janky, and definitely not THE Norm.

How It Started

Years ago, a buddy and I started building Halloween props and animatronics for “The Garage of Evil,” which became a thing in the home haunter community. I later designed the website for The New Yankee Workshop and built their early e-commerce platform.

After building a deck with my friend, I started accumulating woodworking tools and making things — benches, cutting boards, you name it. When the pandemic hit, the maker pursuits went into overdrive.

What I Do Now

I create diverse projects to solve problems for myself and my wife (who runs skoshieandfriends.com), take custom commissions, and produce YouTube content showing the full build process — mistakes and all.

Everything in this shop is designed and built by hand in my workshop. From cutting boards and serving trays to CNC plans and laser-cut designs, each product starts as a real project.

VARO Industries is my company; The New Janky Workshop is my YouTube channel.
